• Form of deep tissue massage that focuses on individual muscles.
• Primarily used to release "trigger points," knots of muscle tension that can send pain to other parts of the body, by applying concentrated finger pressure.
• Helps ease chronic pain and increase blood flow to affected muscular tissue.
3. Swedish Massage
• The most commonly practiced form of massage in the U.S. today.
• Uses long strokes, kneading, and friction techniques on the superficial layers of muscles over the whole body.
• Used to promote general relaxation, improve range of motion, and relieve muscle tension.
• Best for increasing overall relaxation, flushing toxins, and improving circulation.
4. Pregnancy Massage
• Involves manipulation of the soft tissue, and in the physical movement, stroking and stretching of muscles, tendons, ligaments and other soft tissue.
• Helps to reduce low back pain, swelling of hands and feet, headaches, calf cramps, etc.
• Message Therapy for recovery from the birthing event is also highly recommended.
5. Stress Reduction Massage
• Most requested type of therapy today.
• Relieves stress on nervous system, tension, relaxes and improves muscle tone, increases blood circulation, helps you to sleep better etc.
• Speeds recovery from injuries and illness.
6. Sports Massage
• Utilizes techniques that are similar to Swedish and Deep Tissue Massages.
• Focuses on specific muscle groups to reduce or eliminate factors that interfere with performance, such as muscle spasms, tendonitis, and muscle fatigue.
• Can be used before or after participating in an event, as an adjunct to training, or to assist in rehabilitation after injury. The American Massage Therapy
